Listings Of Government Auctions

When you look on the internet under government auctions you will find page after page of listings. If you look at the URL, you won't find a dot gov in the majority of them. There is one place where all government auctions, federal, state and local, are listed and this is Firstgov.gov. This is the U.S. government portal and all levels of government list their auction information there. Click on the government auctions page and you will find the information listed by category of property. Click on the category you are interested in and you will be taken to another page that subdivides it further by agency. You can click on the agency whose auction you are interest in to see what is available. They will provide you with information concerning the time and date and place of the auctions, where the items can be viewed, what the procedure is, what the terms and conditions of the auction are, etc. They will either provide all of the relevant information or tell you where you can find it. You will find some of these government websites listed under your internet search category but they are all a part of the Firstgov website.

As you click through the page after page of internet listings from your internet search, you find that most of the listings are not government. What are all of these other sites? Some of them are auction sites with catchy names. Others are places selling memberships or directories. If you are thinking of joining one of these sites, you want to read the information carefully and see what you are getting into. Most of them charge a fee for membership or some sort of directory. Some of them organize the auction information for you by category and provide you with information concerning the auction. Some provide information about auction prices in the past and list price guides and other information. Again, caveat emptor. Let the buyer beware. Do you really need this kind of information? All of the information for federal, state and local government auctions is listed at Firstgov. including the available auction property. What are you paying for on these websites? Are they really providing a service that you need? Are they doing anything that you can't do for yourself if you learn where to look and what to look for? Know what it is that you are signing up for!
